A North African Craze?

First it was Charlotte and a Franco-Moroccan, now Princess Stephanie and a Moroccan; is there perhaps a North African craze sweeping Monaco? Earlier this month HSH Princess Stephanie of Monaco was in the sunny Kingdom of Spain, in Marbella, where she was spotted, all smiles, with 29-year old human pyramid artist Mohamed, whom she met at the last Monaco Circus Festival. Is Princess Stephanie dating another circus performer? It is probably too early to categorize them as an item, the Princess has wisely been taking a more slow and easy approach to romance in recent years, but they seem to be good friends at least and it would fit in with the nearest thing one could call a "pattern" regarding the men in Stephanie's life. Of course, perhaps I'm being too narrow in my view here. Perhaps we should go back to Prince Albert starting a new African trend for the House of Grimaldi. The Sovereign Prince marries a South African beauty, his niece is then linked to a comedian of Moroccan origin and now his sister is photographed with a Moroccan man. Perhaps it is a pan-African craze washing over the Monegasque shores.

I'm sure some will also note the differences in age here. The Princess is 47 and Mohamed here is 29 -not how it usually works. Well, if the man was 47 and the woman 29 no one would bat an eye and it seems like a dumb double-standard to me. Admittedly, I'm not 29 anymore but I still see Princess Stephanie with the same eyes I did in the 80's and I probably always will. Age is just a number and what is inside is most important (or at least it should be) and Princess Stephanie still has the twinkle in her eye of youthful exuberance. I wish Her Serene Highness all the happiness in the world.

  1. I trust our Steph's judgment, but she should still be careful.

With everything going down with the Arab Spring, nothing would shake up Monaco and Europe like an incident with the Princess.

    1. When it comes to my Grimaldi girls I never think anyone is 'good enough' but (so far at least) I'm not inclined to worry. Princess Stephanie has been linked with several men over the last few years and none seemed very serious, more like good friends. I think the Princess has learned her lesson, keeps her children as her priority and is in no hurry to get too serious with any man. Of course, she could prove me wrong. If so, I will still wish her the best, but be it this guy or another, none of them will ever be good enough for my Stephanie!

    2. Thats true Mad Monarchist, All of Monaco's Princesses deserve someone who is as wonderful as they are. (and such people don't exist!)

I am sure most of those guys were taken aback by her spunky ways and determination, something all princesses should have.

She will pick when the time is right although you and I know he will NEVER be good enough for Our Steph!

  2. Who is Charlotte's "Franco-Algerian"? Not Alex...he is Brazilian and British (and I think a dash of Iraqi, via his father's side) and Gad is French and Morrocan. But the thing is, both men (Gad and Alex) didn't grow up in North Africa, as Gad is considered a FRENCH actor, and Alex a British business man....Felix was French, I think.....

I do agree with you though-I think after her failed marriage with Adans (who I think was 11 years her junior) and with her kids getting older (Louis is going on 20, and Pauline fast approaching 18, and Camille's her teens!), I think Stephanie is focusing on the important thing in her life-her kids, after all, one isn't really a kid anymore, and the other isn't about to be either, and she's only got a little more time with Camille...

    1. I was referring of course to Gad, but you're right he's Franco-Moroccan, not Algerian. I don't why I had Algeria in my head but it's been corrected now. As for where they grew up, I didn't think that mattered. The vast majority of African-Americans have never even visited Africa but that's where they come from and how they choose to identify themselves.
