New Film About Princess Grace

A new film about Princess Grace has been given the green light and is set to be released in 2014 (no rush) with a new veteran director attached to the project according to Deadline.com. The film will focus on a six month period in 1962 when French President Charles DeGaulle and HSH Prince Rainier III were feuding over Monaco's position as a tax haven. Although little remembered today, that spat between protector and protectorate became so serious that the borders were actually closed for a while and Paris considered taking punitive actions against Monaco for Prince Rainier daring to defy their wishes. It was quite an intense period. No word yet on what actress is set to play Princess Grace but the world will certainly be watching.

  1. Interesting! Although any actress playing Grace is, of course, inevitably bound to fall short ;-) How many films about her have there already been?

  2. I don't recall any major ones that I can think of right off. Seems to me there were one or two 'movie-of-the-week' type ones done many years ago. That's not including the many documentaries and specials.

  3. who do you think would best portray Grace Kelly? Charlize Theron came up on my mind first.

  4. I've thought about that, still to need to think about it some more. Princess Grace is so iconic it's hard for me to imagine anyone else even pretending to be her.

  5. Cheryl Ladd played her years ago. Like Audrey Hepburn, there was only one Grace, an icon and a daunting pair of shoes to fill. Both Miss Ladd, and Miss Love-Hewitt (in her protrayal of Audrey) did wonderful work with a difficult if not impossible task set before each of them. Awhile ago there was a model or actress on a commercial which I think was for oil of olay, and she resembled Grace Kelly so closely that it was startling. I wonder if she was ever considered?

  6. Was that the one with Marilyn Monroe? If so, that was no actress that was actually Princess Grace (and Marilyn) put into the commercial for a split second each thanks to the magic of modern digital effects.
