I hear casual remarks all the time about how the Revolution might have been a little rough or even pretty disgustingly gruesome but, in the end, it was all worth it because they got rid of the monarchy and set down the Declaration of the Rights of Man.

No! It was not worth it! Even if the first republic had been everything they naively dreamed it would be it still would not have been worth such monumental suffering and genocide. And in the end, it did not bring about a more free or more just society, it did not help the common people and ultimately plunged most of the world into war going into the next century.MadMonarchisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08083008336883267870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6159967173198170183.post-39952392604685850072010-07-14T10:54:55.869-07:002010-07-14T10:54:55.869-07:00Tyranny always masks itself by shifting the blame,...Tyranny always masks itself by shifting the blame, ad calls itself Freedom and the force it opposes Tyranny. The French revolution was a disaster which ended the rights of the People of France and brought devistation to Monaco, and made the rest of Europe unstable, but, the Ideal of the French revolution, the republican, and ow understood as Democratic, principles that it was based upon are those which won over our own Academics and Politicians and have been gradually accepted by our Culture, so we whitewash the Revolution, and make it glorious so it will fit into our Narrative which sees it as a Struggle for Freedom, by overthrowing a wicked Monarchy in favour of a grand moral Republic.

We ignore the Evil because we revel in the Dream. Reality would make a shipwreck of the Dream.ZAROVEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17668854596329493360noreply@blogger.com
